Prisoners’ Wives on BBC 1

Prisoners’ Wives, the much-anticipated addition to BBC’s original drama season, shines light on the other victims of crime, the families of offenders; the hidden casualties.  The series is set around the lives of four very different women, highlighting the impact of imprisonment upon family life and the stigma families face as they come to terms with the challenges of being ‘prisoners’ wives’.  Behind the drama lie the real-life stories and experiences of men and women who have faced the reality of supporting a family member through a prison sentence and we hope that the programme paints a true reflection of their experiences.

We hope that tonight’s BBC drama will help raise awareness of the issues families face and would encourage anyone who requires support to contact our Support and Information Helpline on 0800 254 0088 (Mon-Fri 9am to 5pm).  This is an independent support service for families and friends affected by imprisonment in Scotland.

Should you wish to comment on the programme please also text us Famout followed by your message to 60777 or email us at [email protected]
