Starting salary: £24,797 FTE (salary band: £24,797 (pt 24) – £28,079 (pt.28))
Probation period: 6 months

The Role
This role contributes to Families Outside’s aims of raising awareness of the impact of imprisonment, as well as having the opportunity to promote meaningful change in professional’s practice when they are supporting families affected by imprisonment or making decisions that affect them.
This role is comprised of two key areas of work: training and events. Families Outside’s training modules are marketed to professionals that come into contact with families affected by imprisonment, such as teachers and social workers. This role would be responsible for supporting the development and delivery of training sessions, which are delivered both online and face to face in a range of in-person settings. The successful candidate will also be tasked with supporting with the delivery of Families Outside’s conference, the Scottish Prison Visitors’ Centre Conference and other Families Outside events that take place throughout the year, such as research report launches and parliamentary receptions.
You will be responsible for overseeing and managing the booking process for both training & events. A typical week might involve planning and preparing for a training session, promoting training amongst target audiences, delivering of training sessions, ensuring attendees receive all pre-and post-course materials and resources, as well as supporting with the planning and delivery of Families Outside’s events.
This role offers the fantastic opportunity to work with colleagues across the organisation, as you will work closely with the Training & Development Manager, the External Engagement Team and wider Families Outside team.
About You
This is an exciting role for the right applicant and comes at a time where Families Outside has undertaken a major restructuring programme and recently revised our Strategic Plan for the next 4 years.
The suitable candidate will:
- Have experience in delivering presentations and/or training
- Have a commitment to improving the lives of families affected by imprisonment
- Be non-judgemental and compassionate
- Have experience organising events/ understand what is required to organise and deliver a successful event
- Be able to prioritise and work with conflicting deadlines
- Ideally, be familiar with Mailchimp, Microsoft Teams, Zoom, Eventbrite and/or other online booking platforms.
Ideally, this role would be based out of our Edinburgh and Glasgow office and would be feasible for anyone in the central belt.
